In 1994, a history of our country, Malaysia, especially the state of Kedah Darul Aman, was held at the Menorah Alor Setar, located at the junction of the Darul Aman Highway, Kedah.
The historic ceremony was completed by the then Prime Minister, YAB Dato Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad (Tun M). The construction of the RM40 million Tower stands on local architecture and modern architecture. The structure of the building is based on traditional characteristics of paddy that has its own beauty. The 165.5-meter tall tower is the second tallest tower in Malaysia and the 19th in the world. The inauguration of the opening of the tower was officially inaugurated by the then Prime Minister, YAB Dato 'Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad (Tun M) on August 14, 1997.
The tower, located about two kilometers from the city of Alor Setar, not only serves as a telecommunications tower for the north but also as the main tourist attraction in Kedah. Alor Setar tower's basic stone laying ceremony which took place on 18 August 1994 marked the rapid development in Kedah. Additionally, the tower's development effort was also seen as a government initiative to further enhance the development of state telecommunications technology. Alor Setar Tower is one of the most popular landmarks in Alor Setar on the city's skyline. This tower is the tallest building in Alor Setar. Views throughout Alor Setar can be seen above this tower.
Apart from that, there is also a Observatory located at 88 meters high from the site of the structure to see the moon and the Alor Setar Tower has a resemblance to a pitch that is bound together, in honor of the importance of paddy cultivation in Kedah. This charming and unique Alor Setar tower should be a landmark in Kedah Darul Aman.
The tower also houses some restaurants and a souvenir shop. The tower is an observatory tower to look for the crescent moon to mark the beginning of Muslim months such as Ramadhan, Shawwal, and Zulhijjah, to celebrate Ramadhan, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha, respectively.

Mahsuri was a young woman who lived in Langkawi, an island in Kedah, Malaysia, during the late 18th century. According to folklore, she was accused of adultery and executed by stabbing.
